Michelle Tyrene Johnson's "Mustard Seeds" Reading Feb 9 at the Nelson
In conjunction with the Midwest Dramatists Center, the Nelson-Atkins presents a staged reading of “Mustard Seeds,” the newest play-in-progress by Kansas City Playwright, Michelle Tyrene Johnson. Set in the contemporary world, “Mustard Seeds” unfolds when modern-day researchers camping out on the bank of the Missouri River encounter the unborn souls who did not make it to the Wyandotte County, Kansas stop of the Underground Railroad. A Q&A with Johnson follows.
The regular free reading of the Midwest Dramatists Center will have a change of date and place in February as part of a special presentation. The reading will take place in the Atkins Auditorium of the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, 4525 Oak Street, on Friday, February 9, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. with doors opening at 6:00. Although the reading is free, Nelson still suggests getting a ticket for the event.
While parking at Nelson on the street is free, there is indoor parking at a cost.
