You are invited to join us for a free script-in-hand reading of six short plays selected from the 43 ten-minute plays that were first presented at the Midwest Dramatists Conference last fall. This Out Loud! reading will be performed on Monday, March 5 at 7:00 pm at Just Off Broadway Theatre, and features readers Bob Allen, Ellen DeShon, Jordan Fox, Laura Jacobs, Carolyn Kern, Jake Leet, Peter Leondedis, Zoe London and Nancy Marcy under the direction of Max Brown, Warren Deckert, Paul Hough and Phil Kinen.
The plays to be read include:
- A Moment of Clarity by Philip Middleton Williams
- Moon in a Barrel by Rand Higbee
- Bottle for a Special Occasion by William Kovacsik
- The Windows by Judith Pratt
- Hocking Murray by George Sapio
- Route 84 House Fire by Jessie Salsbury
This reading is free and open to the public. (Free will/pay-what-you-can donations to help defray costs are always welcome of course, but not required.) You are welcome to stay for a short post-reading talk back if you wish.
The Out Loud! series is an initiative of Just Off Broadway Theatre in partnership with Phoenix KC Theatre as part of J.O.B.’s educational program. Readings of new plays under development will occur approximately every other month featuring local actors from the Kansas City theatre community. The focus will be on the work of local playwrights, but will also include new works from regional and national playwrights. Out Loud! is curated by Warren Deckert.
