The third annual Midwest Dramatists Conference kicks off this weekend at the Hilton Garden Inn in Olathe, Kansas. Playwrights from around the country are attending the conference to have their 10-minute plays read by local actors, network with fellow playwrights, and receive guidance from professional adjudicators. This event is produced by the Midwest Dramatists Center (MDC).
This year's adjudicators are theatre and opera director Katrin Hilbe, founder of Many Tracks; Gwydion Suilebhan, the chief architect and evangelist of the New Play Exchange for the National New Play Network, and executive director of the PEN/Faulkner Foundation; KU professor and MDC playwright Darren Canady; and MDC founder David Hanson.
